...Where Other Things Happened

(Red is a foot high mouse furry... completely made him up just now, so no other info as of yet hehe)

Red scampered between the legs and tail of the others in the room. So many Tall People not paying attention to the Smalls made for very dangerous crowds. He was almost stepped on and yelled up at the owner of the foot, "hey watch it!" before scampering off again.

(Nigel was your average, stocky, neon-green and middle-aged wolverine, who spent his time savagely bullying the furs smaller than him to get his own way, forcing them to do things for him whilst he ignorantly complained he had nothing to do. He may not be the most sizeable fur around, but even they're afraid. Just made that up too :3)

Nigel growled menacingly as he heard a small voice beneath him, and in a rude tone he replied
"What did you say, pipsqueak?
Deciding to ignore the voice, he continued with his day, carelessly marching around as if he owned the place.

Red frowned and stopped. "Pipsqueak?!?!?!" Who you callin' pipsqueak, behemoth!!" He marched up to the green wolverine who'd addressed him and kicked him in the toe. "I said Watch where you're goin'!!" He wasn't about to back down; no one called HIM pipsqueak!

The peeved wolverine bent down, and crouching, raised a fist towards the mouse quickly, and flicked him in the nose, a grimace on his face.
"Oh, so you're the little loudmouth? Pick on someone your own size, midget."

Red stumbled with the force of the flick, but recovered quickly and drew himself up to his full 13 inches. "Midget?! 'll have you know that I am Red the Great! If I picked on people my own size, I would need to pick on the British Empire! I have more power in my pinky finger than you could know in a life time!" He straightened his shirt and put his hands on his hips.

There was a moment of pure silence, the irritable wolverine staring the vibrant, red mouse directly in the face, before the chunky Nigel could no longer hold it back.
He burst into hysterical laughter, giggling and chuckling, his eyes welling up with the cheer just brought on. He wiped a tear from his auburn eye, still chuckling as he did so, and began to calm down.
He stared at the mouse quietly for a while after calming down, but couldn't help laughing at what he had heard.
"Haha.. you.. knowing power? Puh-lease. I've seen more powerful ants than you!"
He continued chortling, despite the small rodent's displeasure, and only simmered down after a while.

Red's face turned eveen redder as the green fur in front of him laughed. "It's true!" he cried, hopping up and down in frustration and making his ears flap with each bounce. "Stop making fun of me, you ignoramous!" He beat at a large furry green leg with his tiny fists. "Oooh, stop it!" He quickly tired, however, and his fists slowed as he panted out, "I'm.. Red... the Great..." and slumped down.

Nigel sat down next to the mouse, seeming rather entertained, a silly grin on his face, and decides to pat the rodent's head, mockingly.
"You know what, I'm just not going to bother, you're far too funny."

Red slumped his shoulders and glared up at the wolverine. "I'm not funny, you're rude." he grumbled, to exhausted to really fight anymore. He stuck out his tiny paw and waited expectantly for the other to shake it. "You know my name, so whom do I have the dubious pleasure or bein' almost stepped on by?" he smirked tiredly.

"Someone's got very little fight in 'em, don't they? Nigel here, nice to almost step on you but not quite."
He offers out his hand, confidently.

Red snorted and shook Nigel's paw. "I just hate people callin' me short," he explained. "So what is this thing here? Some kinda party?" He gestured to the rest of the room. "All I know is it's blockin' my way home." He nodded in the direction he had originally been going, where through the crowd a small wooden door was just barely visible.

"Ah, I'll take care of 'em for you. I ain't sure what it is either, but it's bugging me. Need to get home?"

"It sure would be nice to be able to without being almost stepped on again," replied Red, glaring half-heartedly up at Nigel.

"Right, sorting them out."

Nigel marches up to the crowd furiously, his feet making loud thuds on the ground, and a loud bellow erupts from his mouth, the noise echoing around the room.

"GET OUT OF THE WAY YOU IDIOTS, CAN'T YOU SEE THE LITTLE GUY TRYING TO GET HOME?!"

Following this, the crowd immediately disperses, parting down the middle, the small wooden door easily visible now. He returns to the mouse, triumphantly.

"All better?"

Red smirked up at his newfound friend. "Much!" he squeaked, sauntering down the open path to his door. "Feel free to come in if ya want," he threw over his shoulder. "Big entrance is over there." He pointed to a heretofore unnoticed door next to the smaller one that was considerably bigger. He smirked up at the crowd he was passing. "Whatcha people doin' here anyways, blockin' a mouse's home?" Most of the crowd continued to stare at him silently, a few blinking in shock, and the ones nearer Nigel edging away from him nervously.

"Well, cheers for the invite, it'd be rude to decline, I s'pose, so sure, I'll give it a whirl."

Nigel proudly marches to the door, and tests the handle, eager to see the mouse's home.

(Marissa is an inch shorter than Red, and much calmer xD She's brown, and a little pudgy, and makes cheese.)

Red opened his smaller door, and stepped in his home. Here in his front room, he had regular sized chairs and tables, with a smaller set up for himself perched on the table in front of a comfy looking couch. He scampered about, putting on tea for his guest; the kettle almost as big as he. "If you wouldn't mind so much pourin' your own, it'd be greatly appreciated," he called over his shoulder to Nigel, standing in the doorway still. "But make yourself at home, and all, I'm just goin' ta get my wife out of her workroom. He opened a small door and stuck his head in. "Oy, 'Rissa! We've got company!"

A smaller, brown mouse bustled out of the door, wiping her hands on her apron. "Oh, pleasure to make your acquaintance, sir," she squeaked softly. "My name is Marissa."

Nigel stepped into the room and his jaw dropped. He'd thought that the furniture would be small, like the mouse, but no, all were at a correct size for most fully sized furs other than a small table and chair set on the table. He sat down on the couch, and getting comfortable, he span round and laid down.

"It's a nice place, a little big for you ain't it though?"

The green wolverine puts his feet up, and notices the small wife, grinning, and having an undying respect for hard-working women, replies, with a request.

"Oh, hello there Marissa, join us will ya? You seem like you work 'ard, take a load off, please."

Red grinned and gestured for his wife to join them. "Yeah, Rissa, join us." Marissa smiled at her husband and his guest and climbed up the steps to the smaller table. "Thank ye, I've been makin' cheese all mornin' so I need a break," she replied. Red poured tea for the two smalls and addressed Nigel. "Oh, we have many friends that are larger than us, so we built the main room big enough to host 'em. The other rooms are our size." He waved a paw at the doors leading off of the room, all but one the size of the one Rissa had come through. Marissa chuckled and broke off a small chunk of the wedge of cheese sitting on the table. "Do please try the cheese, dear. I made it myself."

He picked up the small chunk, and ate it in one swift move of his mouth, and grinned, savouring the taste of the well-made cheese, wishing he'd made it last longer. He let out a grunt of satisfaction, before swallowing it.
"Mmm.. damn that's some good cheese, how long ya been at it, Marissa? It's better than my uncle's cheeses, and he's gotta factory for it! He's a nutter fer the stuff, I tell ya. His shop ain't too far from 'ere, y'know, you gotta visit it some time."
After pouring himself some tea, washing the strong taste of beer from his mouth he drank a fair amount of it, nodding with a satisfied expression on his face, he waited for the response of the mice.

Marissa flushed with pride. "Why, thanky sir. Recipe's been in our family for six generations. We like to think it's our attention to the smallest of details that makes ours good," she replied to Nigel. "What is your uncle's name? I may know him." Red beamed, proud of his wife and family, and chimed in an agreement with his wife. "Yessiree, we're cheese mice we are!" He nibbled more on his bit of cheese.

Nigel grinned for the first time in a while, and replied,
"His name's Jack Bernsby, heard of him? Not many 'ave, but if you ain't ya should stop by at some point, it'll be worth yer time, surely."
The wolverine took another drink, lazing back.

"Jack Bernsby? Hmm... I think I've heard that name..." Marissa pondered for a second. "He got the shop next door to the butcher's right?" She took a sip of her tea. Red grinned at Nigel. "So what do ya do for a livin'? You help your uncle?"

"Uh, sometimes, I don't stop by often, my job as a um.. bouncer, keeps me busy."
I give an unconvincing frown, and take another long drink.

Red raised an eyebrow, then smirked. "So that's how you can clear a room, eh?" He decided not to comment on the obvious hedging his new friend was doing. Red turned to his wife. "Rissa, Nigel cleared a path for me to get home; there's a whole party or somethin' outside." Marissa looked interestedly at Nigel. "Oh? I can see that happenin'," she commented. "The crowd I think is from some to do happenin' at the neighbor's." She sipped her tea calmly and smiled. "Thankee for lookin' out for my Red, Mr. Nigel."
