Arty Stuff

So you artists in the group. How do you do your pictures?

I really envy those of you who can pump out sketches quite constantly. I have the almost OCD-like thing where everything has to be perfect. PERFECT. It's takes me bloody ages to get anything done. I end up scrapping most stuff because it's not PERFECT enough, even though i know the person i'm giving it to would still like it :(

I've got all sorts of ideas, but they'd just take me ages to complete. Once i finish the sketch stage i don't go back to them, but i can't post the sketches because NOT PERFECT D: But well, we get there eventually!

So, what's y'alls artistic process? :3

P-pfft I love sketching. X'D Something so fun about it. That, and I'm too lazy to make everything perfect.

Geez, it varies really. For FA/anthroy stuff I usually end up doing it digitally, which isn't even my preferred way of drawing hahaha. I'm much more use to a pencil, and my precious inks. <333 DIGITAL LINE ART KILLS ME OKAY? I'll never understand how you get such amazingly thin, delicate lines. 8U

Now i'm interested in your traditional stuff O: Wish i were good with tradish stuff... actually no, that sounds a bit stressy /bad artist xD

Everyone complains about lineart! What's wrong with you people, it's the best part! So precise and cleeeeean~ All i can tell you is; a 3px brush in Photoshop and a feakishly steady hand. I NEED SAI orz

Eh, well, it's mostly for school atm. Not altogether interesting for anyone on the internet other than me. XD;; I do have more on my DA, but FA has just been where I have been going lately to have goofy fun drawing mushy things.

Though my more serious comics I do traditionally, since doing it digitally makes my head hurt. I just can't figure out composition without looking at the entire paper!

I do have pencil sketches that I need to scan in once I get my darn scanner working. l'D I WISH I could say that I painted regularly, but, uh...I don't. <XD I do like to though! Water colour and oil paints are delicious.

Don't get me wrong! I ADORE doing lineart traditionally! I just get so incredibly impatient with digital lineart. That...seems kinda backwards. 8U whatiswrongwithmeeee

WHA- I thought for sure that you used the pen tool or something! That is a crazy steady hand you have there!

Well, i'm sure it's very nice, judging by your stuff on FA :3 I think the furthest i can go is coloured pencils. I'd like to try these copic marker things. People can do some good looking stuff with those.

I love lineart in general. Tho i always feel more accomplished when doing it traditionally (which i haven't actually done in yonks) because there are no shortcuts to abuse xD Doing digital stuff does hurt your eyes tho, yeah DX And composition. I've hooked up my laptop to my new TV and all colours look different on it! Now i'm not sure which is correct; my laptop or the TV D:

Man, i used to use the pen tool, but that takes way too long and getting smooth curves is a pain in the arse xD I use it for background stuff like building, or long straight objects tho. I cannot draw a straight line to save my life LOL

Whilst being, what I feel, is a pretty creative person... I've got no skill to output it

I used to help out a few artist friends by giving them intricate ideas and clever little things to draw, but never had the skill to do myself

I think it's why I love commissioning so much >_<;;

Nekra, that's gotta be the worst. I've got so many ideas too, but not enough time to do everything :[ I've been meaning to start commissioning people now that i've got some money rolling in from my own commissions. Don't suppose you've got any good artist recommendations?

@Okuu: How do you keep your sketches so nice? I mean, I'm used to Traditional work too, I prefer it really, but still. Your sketches look amazing compared to my sketches...

And I do sketch a lot, I just never really post because it looks TERRIBLE T-T

Similar to Nekra, I have a fair amount of ideas but I can never express them without disliking and deleting the result.

@Lex I...I don't know?? I usually keep my sketches clean as I go, using the eraser a lot haha. I've also grown to be pretty fast, due to having to pump out a lot of work for an OCT I joined int the past that lasted like...a year. Maybe that affects it? <l'D

I'm with Square on the perfection thing, I like keeping things neat and by no means can I ever bring myself to do messy stuff. I will sit and draw the same line for an hour until it turns perfect. ; A; And whenever I do sketch....people mistake it for sketchy lineart. /sob

I do a fair amount of traditional stuff, but that's all for my classes. I do have a fondness for markers and oil pastels. * 0* I'm kinda iffy on using ink though....painting with it is fine, but I hate lining stuff with it.

I wish I could do smooth lines..

That's it exactly! My sketches could hardly even be called sketches. They go directly from unrecognisable to "are you sure this isn't lineart"?

My artistic skills blow so hard haha. I just wing everything I draw and don't pay too much attention to what I do. That's probably not a good way to go about drawing now that I think about it a little.

@SH : You totally wouldn't be jumping in! It was pitched as a solo idea because I didn't want to ask about for someone to join in a theme like bondage haha! >_<;; It's not even been 100% OK'd I've only pitched it as something the artist might like to draw, knowing the artist is taking commish' pieces...

I totally understand if you don't want to join in a piece like that though ^_^;;;;;;;;;

Aw hell naw, i like bondage if Clyde is involved :P But no, it's really okay, i really would feel quite rude, but thank you! Looking at their prices, that's good value. I hope your pitch goes through :)

Eheehee, oh, you guys don't know :P Clyde has this massive authority kink where he likes to be used and abused, and bondage stuff would play into that nicely :P~ And coupled with his nickname: the 30secondwonder, being a toy is pretty much all he's good for until he gets more practise him. He is very niave tho, but willing to please!

Suzie is willing either way, but Basil won't be tied down (unless it's by Milos, that shitheel LOL).
